Arduino

Well it took me an hour to get this going and a day to get some decent projects off the ground (not yet posted).

First the links to other sites.

Getting Started

OK I am running Ubuntu 11.04 because I hate the unity desktop. On the menu choose;
  • Applications->Ubuntu Software Centre
and type Arduino into the search box and you should find
  • "Arduino IDE"
Install it. then run it by choosing;
  • Applications->Programming->Arduino IDE
Plug in your Arduino Uno board. On the Arduino IDE Menus select the following;
  1. File->Examples->1.Basics->Blink  (A new window opens)
  2. Tools->Board->Arduino Uno
  3. Tools->Serial Port->/dev/ttyACM0
Go to the window with the program in it and now use the icons on the cyan bar at the top of the window.

Press the play icon and after a second or two the cyan bar at the bottom of the window reports "Done compiling"

Press the "Upload" icon on the top cyan bar and after a second or two the cyan bar at the bottom of the window reports "Done uploading" and the a little yellow LED on the Arduino board starts blinking on and off each second.

If it would not upload you might need to reboot your system.

That was easy.
